My obsession for creating art has exploded with paintings that result from the simple actions of my everyday life in Portland, Maine: early morning walks with my dogs along the ocean hillside promenade, a stroll around town, visits to nearby beaches, a ferry boat ride to one of the scenic Casco Bay islands, and day trips along route 1. The rugged beauty of the Maine coast and the colorful changes that occur throughout the day and night intrigue and inspire me, while the vastness and the power of the water enchant me. The Maine landscape simply speaks to me.

I paint scenes that I cherish and moments that impress me, so that I can remember and share my experiences with others. My paintings show energy, movement and feeling through bright, bold, expressive strokes--it's all about capturing the essence of something that captures my attention. I create a mood on the canvas, allowing the viewer to enter into my moment and squint at the blinding sunrise, smell the sea breeze, shiver at the cold of a dark winter night or relish in the warmth of a sunny summer day.
